1 day practical and 1 day eLearning
Our Blended Full Paediatric First Aid course consists of 6 hours of practical training and 6 hours of pre-course online.
Who is it for
The course is for anyone working with young children such as pre-school leaders, nursery and childcare managers, creche owners, children’s centre managers, childminding professionals and baby & toddler groups including those working towards an Early Years Educator qualification.
It meets the Ofsted Early Years and Childcare Register and runs in two parts:
one day of flexible online learning
one day of group face-to-face training.
What the course covers
This course covers all accidents as defined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Online The online training and assessment must be fully completed and passed before the attending the practical day training.
Topics covered:
- Managing an emergency
- Stings and bites
- Bone, muscle and joint injuries
- Head, neck and back injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Extremes of heat and cold
- Fainting
- Meningitis
- Poisons and what to do if someone has been poisoned
- Asthma
- Low blood sugar
- Ears, eyes and nose injuries
- Sepsis
Face-to-face
You are expected to attend face-to-face practical training for 6 hours with our qualified First Aid Trainer.
You must complete the online training and assessment before the practical day training.
- Managing an emergency (practical)
- Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
- Communication and casualty care
- Child and baby resuscitation (CPR)
- Unresponsive baby
- Unresponsive child
- Choking baby
- Choking child
- Allergic reaction
- Minor and severe bleeding

EYFS Guidance
This course is EYFS compliant and meets Ofsted registration requirements, Wales Minimum Standards and Scottish Early Years. This paediatric course is suitable for EPA (End Point Assessment) for the Early Years Educator and EYFS requirements. EYFS 2021 Update – Blended First Aid meets full guidance
